Closing the Mission of the World Peace Task Force, National Police Chief: Be an Inspiration to Make the Police Loved by the Community

PEOPLE TODAY.ID _ JAKARTA – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo led the closing ceremony of the National Police Task Force on the UN peacekeeping mission at UNAMID and the awarding of Satyalancana Bhakti Buana to UNAMID’s Garbha II FPU Task Force 12 at Bhayangkara Field, South Jakarta, Tuesday (8/2).

In his briefing, Sigit revealed, UNAMID Task Force personnel who have completed their duties must always develop professionalism, share knowledge, and implement the experience gained, in order to face the increasingly complex future police tasks.

“Be an inspiration and role model for other personnel in realizing a modern Polri, a broad-minded Polri, and a Polri that is increasingly expected and loved by the community,” said Sigit.

As the National Police Chief, Sigit expressed his high appreciation and appreciation to the ranks of the UNAMID FPU and IPO Task Forces who have contributed to the maintenance of world peace and order since 2008 until the end of their current tenure.

In acting as a world peacekeeping force, said Sigit, various awards and achievements have been achieved. Among them, from UNHCR, the Head of Government of Sudan, the Chief of the Sudanese Police, the Head of Operations for the African Union, and the UNAMID Police Commissioner.

All this was obtained, according to the former Banten Police Chief, for the hard work, dedication, and loyalty of all UNAMID Task Force personnel in maintaining security and peace in the Darfur region, Sudan. Thus, it has incised gold ink in the history of the journey of the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian National Police in the international arena.

“Of course I hope that Indonesian ambassadors throughout the world who are currently carrying out their duties, can always continue to carve the pride and honor of the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world,” said the former Police Criminal Investigation Officer.

Not only that, Sigit emphasized, the achievements of Polri personnel in the international arena are in accordance with the spirit of transformation towards a Precise Police.

“Precisely on the operational transformation policy of the fifth program and the 22nd activity, namely the development of international cooperation through the role of the National Police in peace missions, international humanitarian missions, and other international missions,” said Sigit.

According to Sigit, the UN peacekeeping mission is one part of implementing diplomacy and international cooperation between the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian National Police which has strategic value as a form of the contribution of the Indonesian nation in carrying out world order, as mandated in the fourth paragraph of the preamble of the 1945 Constitution.

This commitment, said Sigit, has been realized in the 32 years that the Police have been involved in peacekeeping missions in 18 UN missions. At least 2,975 personnel have been deployed to serve as Peacekeepers or peacekeepers.

“This number of Polri personnel puts Indonesia in the 10th position as the country with the most personnel sending personnel to Troops/Police Contributing Countries (TPCCS),” said Sigit.

Meanwhile, several countries that become the UN mission area, namely, Yemen, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sudan, South Sudan, Mozambique, Namibia, Rep. Central Africa, Bosnia, Congo, Haiti, Slavonia, Mali and Somalia.

In this case, Sigit stated, FPU and IPO personnel have brought the name of the Indonesian nation to the international arena and received positive appreciation for their active role in carrying out UN peacekeeping missions.

In carrying out a UN peacekeeping mission, Sigit emphasized that it requires such a big responsibility. Starting from protecting civilians, providing humanitarian assistance, monitoring peace agreements between warring parties, supporting mediation of conflict resolution between groups, and helping the Sudanese government to return refugees to their original homes voluntarily.

“In addition, at the end of this UNAMID mission, Indonesia is also trusted to be a Guard Unit”
the last one to leave the mission area for professionalism and high discipline recognized by the United Nations since the beginning of the UNAMID assignment,” concluded Sigit. (RP/PP)
